We are thrilled to congratulate two members of the Musculoskeletal Health, Sport, and Exercise Lab on receiving highly competitive national research awards from the Government of Canada. These awards recognize not only Jenna’s and Renata’s outstanding achievements, but also their dedication to improving the lives of people living with and recovering from knee injuries. We are incredibly proud of all they have accomplished and look forward to seeing the impact of their research in the years ahead.
Dr. Jenna Schulz has been awarded a Canada Postdoctoral Research Award (CPRA). Jenna’s postdoctoral research will advance our understanding of how to support self-management of knee health after ACL injury and identify strategies to implement the SOAR (Stop OsteoARthritis) program into routine clinical practice. Her work combines clinical trials, qualitative research, and implementation science to help ensure young people receive the support they need to reduce their risk of post-traumatic osteoarthritis while remaining active throughout life.

Renata Gabuzyan has been awarded a Canadian Graduate Research Scholarship – Master’s (CGRS-M). Renata’s research explores how purposeful cyclical weight-bearing activities, such as walking and running, influence joint health after ACL injury. By combining wearable activity monitor data and patient-reported outcomes, she aims to identify physical activity patterns that promote lifelong knee health and help prevent post-traumatic osteoarthritis.
